I am hoping to get into gas at a top program, and was wondering what my board scores should be like realistically. Is step 1 considered more important than step 2?

I don't know what stage of your medical career you're in, but I am a finishing 4th year and let me tell you - so as to save all hassle, DO YOUR BEST ON STEP 1 so you don't have to DEPEND on step 2. No matter what field you're interested in, but especially if you're thinking about high powered specialties like surgery, cards, derm, etc. Just study up and do the best you can. If you don't think your scores are that great or you're not confident in your skills, then still do your best and show improve clinically.

Good luck.
