Pretty much the title, I had heard about Zach Highley’s study method of pairing Boards and Beyond with Anking and was curious if anybody has tried something similar? Practice questions saved my life on the MCAT so I wanna try it for the preclinical years. For reference we start with Biochem then go to Anatomy and NBMEs start then as well

The idea for reference is you go over the topics covered in class the day before via Boards and Beyond videos and practice questions followed by flash cards so lecture can be more review and application

Honestly dude Zach Highley is a grifter. Don't listen to him. His ideas aren't original and may even be suboptimal (I'm not super familiar with his advice so maybe not, but if he has good advice, he's not the first person to say it).

What you should do- Pathoma for pathology, costanzo for physiology (maybe), sketchy for micro and pharm. Then yeah, Boards and Beyond for everything else. And the corresponding anki cards.

And when you do UWorld or Amboss questions go find anki cards going over what you missed/didn't know.

If you follow the above advice you'll be better off than whatever that Zach guy is saying. And I'm not an influencer..... that's just good advice. Tried and true, been true for several years now.

I appreciate the advice, would you say boards and beyond videos are a good learning resource or just use other stuff?

Boards and Beyond is fine. There are just better things for specific subjects (Pathoma for example for pathology)

I also don't think boards really covers anatomy or histology; Med School Bootcamp does

That’s great to hear then. I was planning to get pathoma when we start blocks in 2nd semester. I have Netter’s anatomy and a few Anki decks for that

If you are an audio learner, I'd add Divine Intervention Podcast as well.

Personally, I have been alternating between Bootcamp and B&B for content but always pair whichever I am using with Anki. I will say, if you are not disciplined, doing this can take a lot of time. But it has not failed me and I have done well on our exams (which are all NBME).
