Has anyone heard of someone who had to take boards part 1 three times? I'm just curious.

Not me. At my program, if you fail on the 2nd attempt you're dismissed.

Hi Twin2012,

Yes, I know that there are/were a few. Understandably, students that require more than 2 attempts at the APMLE part 1 exam would be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. I hope the exam went well for you (or for whoever's behalf you are posting ).

I knew a guy. Had to take a year off, but passed, and just matched this past cycle

I have heard of a few. At my program if you have to take it a 3rd time you are held back a year and it is your last chance before dismissal. Good luck OP!
