Just heard about this exhibit called "BODIES... The Exhibition." It uses real preserved human cadavers to show the science of the body. Its in Tampa right now, going to NYC and Atlanta, too. Anyone been? I think I'm going to go in April, even though its a bit creepy. Should be cool though.

Check it out.

Is this is the work of some German 'artist' / anatomist? I know or at least seen a documentary about that guy...very controversial, or so the consensus was. I dunno Shovingit, creepy? yes; cool?? :scared:im not too sure, but it will be an experience

I went to a similar exhibit in Chicago at the Museum of Science and Industry a few years back. If I remember correctly it was called Body Works, but very similar to what you've described. I thought it was very interesting, not too intense for science majors, and the piece with the horse and rider, along with some others, were truly memorable.

I saw it over winter break in Tampa. It was really interesting and not creepy at all. They start with bones, then move on to muscles, then to organ systems, just like you were taking A & P.

That's what I hoped it would be like. Thanks!

Glad to hear it was good. I think thats the same show that is coming to Denver very soon.

I've been to one of those exhibitions.
I took my friend who's a psychology major. She didn't like it because she said it was like a scientist inspecting objects, instead of thinking about how these are real people.

In my opinion, it wasn't all that creepy, but for some odd reason the cadavers didn't seem real. The best way to describe it is that it looked a lot like paper.

I think we kept forgetting that they were real cadavers. Very weird. But different.

I live in Chicago and missed Body Worlds while it was here. My boyfriend and I just drove all the way out to Toronto, Canada a few weeks back to see Body Worlds 2 there. It was so unbelievably crowded that it made it somewhat unenjoyable.

I believe the fellas name that puts it on is Gunther Von Haegen, or something like that. It wasn't too creepy. I was hoping it would act as a good review of my anatomy class. The people in the exhibit donate their bodies to it with full knowledge that he will infuse plastic throughout their body and then slice it apart and everyone and their brother will see it.

It's quite the sight.

I caught it in LA when it first came to the US in the summer of 2004. It was very cool, especially since I was taking anatomy at the time.

I saw it as well in LA at the Science Center right by USC. Amazing, as I too was in Anatomy at the time. My husband went with me and was a little grossed out, but overall thought it was interesting. I liked the enlarged man on the bike and the horse (What HUGE lungs they have!)

I'd go. But the odds of it coming to Oklahoma are astronomical. I do remember seeing an exhibit at a museum in Chicago when I was a kid, maybe 8yo or so. They had slices of people encased in glass and you could look at the cross sections of all the organs. I told the kids in my class it was cool and they thought I was crazy. Oh well, what else is new? 😛

I saw it in Tampa about 3 weeks ago.
I though it was cool, however since I am taking A&P right now, it did not make for a very good distracting weekend. I felt like I was studing.
But for people who are not familiar with this (not in science/health tracks) it can be either fascinating or gross. It depends.
I liked it and I recommend it.
At the end of it, there are many notebooks where you can leave your comments. I had a good laugh reading them. You have everything from praises, to people insulted with the display of dissected genitals... go figure.

I did go in tampa, fl . It was very cool. I found it more interesting than educational. The babies in the bottle were amazing. I would recommend it 👍 The show that goes with that was amzing too.

My daughter's AP Bio class is going in two weeks, so I am going to tag along. I have wanted to go since it arrived, just haven't gotten around to it. 😳

I've been twice (in Tampa) and absolutely loved it! It's fascinating. I went for the 1st time the week before I took the pcat and it felt like a good bio review! 🙂 haha
I highly recommend!
