Just remember... people think long and hard before getting married, but that often doesn't turn out so well. It seemed like a good idea at the time though 😉



I think of it as sort of a parallel... that you're marrying your body to the image.

That's not to say it's necessarily a bad idea... but just understand the permanence of it.

For me, not really the same thing. I married the hubs because I wanted to move forward with him - I got the tat to commemorate something that profoundly impacted my life.

Of course, you should give it a lot of thought. I just think the permanence isn't a drawback if you get it to remind you of something that made you who you are.

The tattoo that I considered deeply (and still haven't given up on) was to be one that my husband got as well, so it was significant in that way... but his would be quite a lot bigger and, honestly, I might be holding out because I'm not sure I want HIM to get a full-back tattoo, as he declared he wanted. Mine would be smaller and in tramp stamp position... lol. But not too close to my rear - a bit higher than that. I also considered between my shoulderblades...

Who knows. I would tell y'all what it was, but I'm protective about the idea still - I don't want anyone to have the same thing, you know? I will say that it's a "tree of life" or "gaia" of sorts.

I got my "tramp stamp" 12 years ago...when pants were a little more like "mom jeans" than that low-rise ones that are in style now. So my tattoo is higher up on my lower back than most. Fortunately, it never peeks out from under my clothes, but it also looks ridiculously high in a swimsuit. I also have 6 other very strategically placed tattoos and piercings, none of which are visible in normal clothes.

My advice is get whatever tattoos you want if:

1) they have truly significant meaning (I have one I could take or leave b/c I wasn't patient enough to wait until something significant enough came along)
2) consider the placement (It's not fair, but the fact of the matter is that people do judge. It's human nature. You are going to be a well-respected doctor, after all.)
3) research the inks available and chose one that will be a bit easier to remove (with laser) in case you do change your mind later

Take your time and make the right decision for you

OBVIOUSLY.

You're supposed to use rubbing alcohol or baby oil to take them off 🙂
