Boil and Freeze equation problem

Hey simple question the boil and freeze point formulas are: Tf = -(i)(Kf)(m) same for boil. But I just realized I forgot when to use the (i) and when not to use the (i). I just ran across destroyer question that used the (i) and qvault question that did not.
 
Only use i (vant hoff factor) for compounds that dissociate like NaCl where i =2 and don't use if for molecular conpound like CH3OH that dont dissociate because i=1 which is negligible.
