Guys whats the difference between intermolecular and intramolecular bonding? HOw can i tell the difference by looking at compounds?
Also is this correct
h-bonding> ion-dipole>dipole-dipole>london forces

Intermolecular are forces between two molec. i.e hydrogen bonds. intermolecular. while intra is forces within a molec. like electronegativity

and yes you were right on the bonding as long as youre going in order of decreasing strength.

know which compounds will form which kinds of bonding. also be familiar with hybridization of bonded molecules and how to determine geometries and shapes. those are also common dat questions.

In reality, and you will see this once you take some upperlevel chemistry courses. A hbond is basically and technically a hydrogen that is being "shared" between two atoms. so if u have H bonding with water and O the h is just skipping around inbetween the two O. imagine the Os as pingpong paddles and the h as the ball and just keep the paddles close and the ball keeps bouncing back and forth between them. Its only characterized as a dipole interaction because its the electrostatic interaction of two partially charged regions with a proton. remember oh and nh make predominant hydrogen bonds. due to their electronegativity and size as well as their e.configuration. A real dipole dipole just means two diff. charged portions are electrostatically attracted, basically anything other thne o and n

You are right. DNA hydrogen bonding is similar and gives it the structure.
