I was sent a referral specifically for a T7 biopsy from a heme/onc. Haven't seen the patient yet, but just curious if you guys leave any cement behind in the tract?

Any increased incidence of fracture in the biopsied body?

It's V-plasty without the cement. Once you get to posterior body, but in the biopsy needle and advance a cm or two. Then attach the small syringe and aspirate while withdrawing.

Drop the core and sludge in formalin container. Put on a bandaid.

No increased risk of F and no cement.

Is this a targeted mass biopsy? If so, consider CT. It's not a procedure patients like to have done twice if an inadequate sample is obtained, or if the unaffected portion of the vertebral body is biopsied.

I haven't seen the patient or the films yet. Thats coming in the morning.
We did the biopsies along with verts/kyphos in fellowship for myeloma but never really did one specifically for biopsy.

Thanks for the advice steve and freddy.
