I have my first RO rotation coming up. The official rec is the Management Decisions book but some reviews say that's too much for a medical student. What would be perfect for a med student clerkship? The Roach handbook?

Thanks.

Good luck! I was very late to this process and here's my rec (I am applying now, so take it for what it is worth)

Cancer Management¿A Multidisciplinary Approach : Medical, Surgical, & Radiation Oncology (http://www.amazon.com/Cancer-Management¿-Multidisciplinary-Approach-Radiation/dp/1891483056) - nice perspective of the way that surgery, med onc, and rad onc all work together. Great starting point for me, since I was (and still am) clueless to the treatment approach of most cancers.

Roach book was great for quick facts and evidence-based studies for each site (which even as med students we can be expected to know).

Haffty and Wilson; Principles of Radiation Oncology. Much more accessible to the aspiring radiation oncologist. It is in a narrative format providing more of an overview of management. Also, it is available for iPhone via Skyscape🙂

haha everyone has a different opinion. thanks for all the help though.
