So many aspects of relationships, specially among those with more primitive personality characteristics, are perhaps about power and control. Can anyone recommend a good psychology/psychiatry book that discusses power and control?

Thanks for the post but that's not quite what I had in mind. The writer has a degree in classical studies in fact, and I have no idea what makes him an expert or knowledgeable in psychology of power relations--as you acknowledge.

Let me clarify what I need:

I am not interested in ways to manipulate others. What I am interested in is the mechanisms and meanings of power in primitive personality organizations (or cluster B personality disorders) and related relationships. These people's relationships can be very complex, but that whole power and control theme keeps coming up again and again.

I have looked at some articles on sociology of power and control, on different kinds of power (legitimate, information, coercive, etc), on power associated with position/role in society, and so forth. But detailed psychological explanations, be it psychodynamic views or ones from evolutionary psychology are missing. The only articles I found on power/control were related to helplessness and depression.
