FutureFLdds. As I know, Boston does not require secondary. They start processing the application in early Sep. this year. Basically, the ratio of acceptance/interview is 1/4 like most schools.
A good clinic school with large patient pool. (Like Temple, Nova, and USC.) I hear from my friend who is a D1 student there this year that BU takes care of their students a lot. If you could not catch up the progress, they will find someone to help you! Amazing...oh...

grettlin2 are you sure they accept 1/4 students they interview...I thought it was more like 3/4....but I could be wrong.....does anyone know???

Yeah I thought it was a little higher too, definitely over 50%. I was told that if you are invited to an interview, and you don;t totally bomb it, you should get in...which would make your chances better than 25%. Who knows?

Dont know about BU, but Tufts accepts around 85% of the people they interview. Im assuming most schools accept 50%-75%. If they accept a lower percentage than that they are just wasting there time and everyone elses by not weeding people out based on their application.

I got this number from my friend who is D1 in BU now. He asked the school this Aug. and they told him about 1/4. You know the reason I think it might be the case is that Temple invites 500 people for interview and the class size is 125. I guess they might send out 180-200 acceptance letters for the whole year. So, it might be around 25-35%.
BU is one of the schools I would like to go, so I asked my friends and the advisor to get as much info as I can. However, not all the info are correct. Just try our best to make it!
I will let you guys know after I get the email back from Dr. Frankle.

It would be over 50% but it depends on when you interview obviously. The later in the cycle, the less your chances...as long as you interview before March you have a good chance.

I am interviewing at BU on 01/23/04 and I understand that you are a student there? Are there any pointers that you could offer me as to how they interview? Besides what is on the interview feedback. Do you have any negatives about the school besides expense? Any hotel near by that you recommend (I have the list they gave me but I was wondering your opinion)?

First thing I will tell you is to dress warm. I interviewed in late January also and it was about 10 degrees outside.

You have a good chance at acceptance as long as you don't foul it up. The interview day starts with a light breakfast then a tour, next your interview over lunch and lastly you talk with students. I can suggest that you have some questions lined up for your interviewer regarding the school. Say that you like the APEX rotation since you can gain a lot of experience prior to working with patients and also the flexibility that it provides since you can practice anywhere in the US and Canada so you can go home during the summer. Add that BU is a very diverse school and you like it because you can learn a lot about other cultures. Boston is an educated city since it houses two of the best universities in the world while also being home to 60 other colleges and universities and you can fit in very nicely since it's a very young city. Lastly mention you like that the facilities are either new or practically new. The SimLab is a couple years old and they have built a brand new clinic on the 6th floor which will open this week I believe.

Negatives: None really but just get ready to work because it's not like undergrad. We have exams every week. It's not exclusive to this school and it's really a negative but I thought it might affect your decision.

Hotels: Any hotel in Boston proper itself is fine. I drove up from NYC and stayed at the Four Seasons. On the day of my interview I just drove to school and parked in their garage. I can't think of any that I would strongly suggest since they're all fine. If I think of any I'll let you know.

Good luck.

Hopeful girl and PashaJ,

Thank you guys for all the input. I'll more thatn likely book a flight soon and then make reservations at the Clarendon. I don't know what I'd do without my fellow SDNr's.

PashaJ I'll more than likely pm you regarding the interview when the time is near. Thanks again for your input!

hopefulgirl, when did you interview with BU? Could you share some experience? As you know, BU is one of the schools I really want to go.
How is BU's living condition and environment? I do not quite like NYC. The subway is really crowded and not clean. (I do not mean to offend NYC resident. Sorry.)
I did not see many students taking subway even in the early morning. Do you all drive in NYC?

Thanks!

NYUCD students probably live close to school so they have no need to use the subway. College students overall though use the subway a lot. NYU undergrad is largely a commuter school, >60%, not that many people I remember brought their car to school everyday. I believe 8 million people use the subway every day.

Thanks PashaJ. Bu, how do you bring the stuff from supermarkets by taking subway? People might buy a lot of food/living needs for a whole week, and how do people carry them by two hands in the subway???
