Does anybody know what the method of transportation is for most dental students in these cities?
Do they use the subway?
Is the subway safe and clean?
How bad is the crime in that area of Boston and the rest of Boston?
If accepted to one of these schools, where do you plan to live within the city?

You are asking some broad questions about 3 dental schools at one time... I will help you out with some info about BU, someone has to do the rest.
Students that go to BU either live close to the school (within 5-10 min. walk) or BU main campus. If you were to live BU main campus, there is free BU shutle that takes you to south campus (dental school) and main campus every 30 minutes.
Subway is known as the "T" in Boston, it is safe and as clean as it is in other places.
Crime rate is not too bad, BU area is not the best in Boston, but I have yet to witness anything bad in that area.
Students that go to BU either live close to school (south campus), BU main campus, Back Bay, Fenway etc.
Good luck on the rest.

i currently live in NYC....i love boston. love it...it's so quant. for transportation use the T! it's safe, it's clean (clean for a subway). as for living, live near the school you get into, check out grad housing....i've considered the possibility of living in a very close suburb area (who knows...).

To add to DB#1's comments, if you are going to BU and live in the Back Bay area, you take a bus to school. There are two buses that take you near school from Mass. Ave., the #1 bus that drops you a couple blocks away from school and the CT1 bus that literally takes you about 100 feet from the steps to the school. Its very easy to get around the city, so I wouldnt worry too much about that. As far as safety, BU isnt in the best part of town (south end), but again, its really nothing to worry about. The South End, west of Mass. Ave. is pretty sketchy. However, east of Mass. Ave., where the school is located, is much better. Ive been around that area plenty of times at night and I have yet to be worried about my safety. Other parts of the Boston area (Back Bay, Fenway, Brookline, Beacon Hill) are all safe places.
