I will be moving to Boston next fall due to my wife's post-doc training at Brigham and Womens. I am planning to transfer to an undergraduate school there and finish a biochem/history degree.

Has anyone transferred from an out of state community college into this area?

Any suggestions on transfer friendly schools with strong pre-health programs?

Any good micro-breweries in the area besides Sam Adams?


edit: I am not exactly Harvard or MIT material like my wife. I am looking at small liberal arts colleges.

You could look into Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston... it's in the Longwood area right down the street from Brigham and Women's. You can do undergrad in a few pre-health areas. As far as schools the city (not necessarily small liberal arts, though), there are Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Emmanuel College, Wheelock College, Lesley University. All others are mostly specialized to music, art, engineering, etc. Of course, don't forget BU, BC, and Tufts... they're major universities but very expensive. Lastly, there's UMass Boston, which you should definitely check out. I imagine it's transfer friendly and, being public, it's cheaper.

Don't know much about too many small liberal arts colleges in Boston; with BU, NU, MIT, Harvard, and BC, the goliaths pretty much crowd them out. Your best bet is going to be picking up a Peterson's or something and going through the schools to see what fits. Also make sure to check on their prehealth programs; the big schools will absolutely have strong ones, but I can't say about the smaller schools. You just want to make sure you've got a strong ally throughout the process. UMass Boston wouldn't be a terrible bet, but if I'm not mistaken, as part of the UMass system, the costs are still extremely high. Although their tuition's been frozen for a long time, they're very creative with 'fees'.

PS - once you're here, you definitely don't want to refer to SA as a 'microbrew'.
