I got this email today from BU stating that I'm in their continuous review file. What exact does that mean? I thought my stats were good enough for at least an interview (3.5 GPA, 3.47 Science, 22TS 21AA). Anyone else get something like this? Should I take that as a rejection from BU? Im soo sad 🙁🙁🙁

Stats good enough for an interview doesn't necessarily mean you'll get an interview. BU has one of the biggest applicant base in the country. They might feel your too average and doesn't offer something that someone with lower stats might, like minority status or community service or a killer personal statement. Sometimes, when your stats are TOO high, they might sometimes not invite you for an interview knowing you'll go somewhere else instead. I wouldn't say its a rejection, you're probably just not interesting enough to get an instant interview request.

When was your app. mailed to the schools?

Strangely enough I got no such email, good or bad sign? Which mailing were you guys in?

Good sign maybe if your application file is for sure complete. This email is a bad sign because it means that you're put in the review later pile. It means that they're not willing to invite you to an interview at this time, but maybe later and most likely not. I got the same email from Buffalo.

me too

21AA
23TS
19 PA
3.64 GPA
3.68sGPA

I was hoping buffalo was going to be an easier school to get into. SUPER lame.

i got the same email too. I think its UB and not BU.

An applicant who shadowed with me has been in BU's continuous file since August. Respectable GPA around 3.5 and DAT scores 27TS, 26AA 23PAT (I saw the score report!!).

Already has interviews at Harvard & many others, but not Boston. Makes no sense, but it's definitely Boston's loss.

I got the same email this morning too (from Buffalo). 🙁 No more hope....

OH FU*K I meant University of Buffalo... SOOO SORRY GUYS!!!!!!!!:bang:

got the same email too
TS 22
AA 20
GPA 3.63
is buffalo a newly converted ivy league school ??

Seems to me that BOSTON U thinks they're an Ivy. Buffalo is interviewing the applicant I mentioned, but Boston isn't. Makes no sense.

The story with Buffalo is that with their low tuition no doubt they are inundated with applicants.

With his stats, Boston was probably sure that this applicant wouldn't have gone there. Some schools don't accept people with ridiculously high stats (DAT) when they know they will be accepted at a top dental school in the US. BU is one of them.

That just sounds ridiculous. ANd totally sucks for the student. WHat if he DOES NOT get accepted into the other 2-3 great schools he applied to.

SO he pretty much doesn't get in coz he was toooo good?? awww I really hope the schools don't do that.

I know colleges do that so that their yield will be higher and therefore influence US News rankings. Why would a dental school do that? They interview applicants all the time who end up withdrawing. Other schools didn't do that.

Fortunately I'm bothered by this more than his is!!
