Hi, I am attending the Boston University School of Medicine next fall and I don't know anyone in Boston. I was wondering if anyone was also looking for a roommate. The roommate matching website is pretty dry.

Hey,

I'm at BU and thought I'd chip in with some insight and also a housing offer. Most med students seem to try to find a place within walking distance of the school (the area was kind of shabby but is improving slowly). Harrison Court is official BU housing (it's across the street from the med school) but 1) it's expensive 2) there's a long wait to get in, unless you know people who are moving out 3) there's construction going on next door, which is loud enough that they've lowered the rent for the people who live closest to the noise.

That being said...

I live in grad student housing near the main BU campus. The inter-campus shuttle stop is 3 minutes away, and the ride takes 15-20 minutes. Rent is $750/month, and I'm looking for someone to sublet over the summer, and you can extend for the school year if you want.

My neighbors are all BU grad students (law, dental, philosophy) and one professor. They're all nice and normal people. We share bathrooms and the kitchen (three of us use the kitchen, and there are 3 refrigerators). Since it's BU-owned and operated, the place is maintained and cleaned very well.

The room is huge and fully furnished (with bay windows and a fireplace). It's in a first-floor suite, and there's a laundromat across the road. I don't know how familiar you are with Boston, but it's 30 seconds away from the Green C line (see www.mbta.com - it's a subway/street car line) and 3 minutes away from the Green B line. Groceries, restaurants, ATMs, (bars, a club) are all 1-2 minutes away. It's right on the border of Boston/Brookline, which is a really nice suburb / area of Boston. And it's still alive, because the main BU campus is nearby.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey,

I was wondering how first year students find each other for housing? Like I can't make it to the open house, and I was wondering if that is how a lot of people find roommates? The database on the website is pretty empty...is it still early for people to find roommates?

Thanks
