Boston University - "Under Review" status = hold?

This has been touched upon before but recently my Boston University status changed from "Your application is complete" to "Your application is complete and under review." It seems from what others have said that this is basically hold status. Does anybody have any thoughts or information on there?

I'm just trying to satiate my aching desire to know anything about my status at any schools. I applied on the later side and with a lower mcat score than planned and I am hating life cause i have barely heard anything from any schools at this point. Oh well, right?

did they email you and let you know to check your status?

I received an email from them a few weeks ago explaining how far behind they are in reviewing applications. So, I know I should be patient, but it seems as if they can be quick in their turnaround too.

not a hold, it means that they just picked up your app and started looking at it

remember they get 10,000 applicants each year... it takes them a while to go through them all

i got the same message and was rejected 2 weeks later

they told us they have 11,500 applications and they will interview 1000, and accept, i think, 400.

they have already interviewed 600 and will decide on those around jan 10th. accept (very few), reject (a lot) and defer. if you are deferred they put you over with the last 400 interviewees to be reviewed again.

they rule on those (400 plus deferred) in march and, at that time, create a small waitlist.

nehcmij86, yeah, i understand that. I only asked because I have heard from most that have been granted interviews or been rejected that their status never changed to "under review." Rather, it only went straight to interview or rejection. Yours is the first case i have heard of going from "complete and under review" to rejection. If there are others out there like nehcmij86, by all means, let us know.

yes, he interviewed there earlier this week. 😛 And I did too, so I can confirm that what MDRus said was 100% what the dean told us there too.

What does it mean when it goes from "under review" to "under consideration" ??

So, I submitted in late Sept, and got the under review notification. I contacted them a couple weeks back, and then recieved an email notifying me that they were behind on reviewing apps. Last week, I checked my status and had the under consideration notification. Yesterday, I got an email for an interview invite.

I was complete in early august, and mine hasn't changed from complete yet at all. I got the email a few weeks ago about them being behind, but my status still hasn't had the words "under review" or "consideration" or anything of the sort.
