THere are so many books out there. What are the Best 4, most essential??

1) First Aid
2) BRS Path
3) BRS Physiology, or big Costanzo Physiology
4) Micro made ridiculously simple.

Also gotta do the Q bank. Found it to be the best resource.

am i the only one who doesnt care for brs path or any brs books for that matter?

this is my list, exactly.

Essential:
First Aid
Q-Bank
BRS phys
Goljan STARS Path -or- BRS Path (STARS is amazing, even though it is older)
Pathophys for Boards and Wards

Other good ones:
High Yield Anatomy
High Yield Immunology
High Yield Cell and Molecular Biology
Lippincott's biochem and pharm
Micro Made Simple -or- Micro for Boards and Wards
Goljan Audio

If you have extra time:
High Yield Embryology
Chapter One of High Yield Histo

Not So Good:
Step Up
BRS Micro
BRS Pharmacology
High Yield Pharm

how come Step Up is not so good? i mean, i just flipped thru it really quick....didn't really spend time with it. but it looked decent in a nice systems based format.

I second high yield micro. One of the most under-rated review books out there, and much better than Micro Made Ridiculously Simple for board review. (Although Micro Made Simple is good to use with class work.)

I like the format, it's just that there is hardly any meat to it. It seemed very superficial to me. Not enough detail at all.

The ones that cover material you don't know well.

(Obviously, we all have a different "essentials" list)

This is so true I had to go back to basics and use sidman for neuro. However I think that FA is a must. but again you add and subtract according to your weaknesses. This is why i had to chaneg from an organ based to subject base review and why I put step up down early on. I was weak in subjects not organ systems and these subjects were crowding out others in that organ system. so you shoudl take suggestions and tailor them to your needs.

Going into 2nd semester of 2nd yr I thought anatomy and Neuro were my weak subjects so I read HY Neuro/Road Map Neuro and Road Map Gross Anatomy 2nd semester. It helped tremendously bc I felt I had a grasp on neuro and gross anatomy at the beginning of my studies. I thought the Road Maps did an excellent job on explaining those topics and didnt even study those subjects in FA which I thought to be the #1 source, BRS Phys #2, I used Step Up at the end AND FOUND IT EXTREMELY USEFUL for quick review.
qBANK IS A MUST ALSO.
ECU Med 07

First Aid
BRS Path
BRS Phys
Q Bank

Hawley was our prof. for micro. She used to teach kaplan micro, and wrote a good deal of their notes. I agree with the above poster. The format of the High yield is more conducive to Boards review. Apparently she also writes questions that have a high propensity for showing up on the exam.

In terms of my Step Prep...

1. Heavily annotated FA
2. BRS path.
3. BRS physio
4. Qbank

Other Excellent resources (time permitting)
1.High Yield Micro
2. High Yield Immuno
3. Goljan audio w/ 36 page High yield notes
4. Webpath
5. Robbins review book
6. High yield neuro anatomy
7. High yield cell and molecular biology
8. First six chapters of BRS histo. and cell bio ( good coverage of cellular bio)

Hello people,
I am new to this forum/site. I was wondering if someone could tell me how I could get a hold of the Goljan audio for pathology. Wud appreciate any advice. Thanks 🙂
