BPS scoring is well known to take a significant time, despite being an entirely electronic exam. I assume this has to do with the scaling of the exam.

Yep. People will argue over the answers because sometimes the questions or answers themselves are ambiguous, or possibly a treatment modality/practice changed between the time the exam was written vs taken (rare).
