Hello guys,
So i covered the chapters about Electricity and Magnetism in BR, which are 3 chapters however I feel like these chapters are lacking so much information and that my understanding of the material is not solid.
Does anyone know any other resources to use to get a solid conceptual and mathematical understanding of the material.
In my first MCAT trial I used PR and i felt that i understood those chapter better with them, I will go back to the PR books and study them from there , however iam looking for other suggestions from you guys too.
🙂

What version of the physics book do you have? The versions of the book I've seen have one chapter on E and M and one chapter for circuits, so it might simply be a matter of getting a current version. The latest book covers this section conceptually in a more visual way along with many more applications than the previous versions.

Whatever resource you ultimately feel comfortable with, you should make sure you emphasize the passages more than the reading. This is a topic where you can feel confident in what you know and then get a bizarre diagram in a passage you can't figure out in the limited time you have.

I went through the electrostatics/electromagnetism chapter (from the latest edition) for the past few days, and it was a bit difficult to understand. I don't think it's BR's fault, because electricity is a difficult and not-so-intuitive topic. I did all the passages for the chapter, and I think that helped a bit, especially after reading the solutions.

I thought BR did a pretty good job with it. To really reinforce the concepts though, I would recommend doing the EK1001 Physics (if you have the book) section over E&M. That helped me a lot.

i have the latest versions, and they are separate chapters, u are right they are presenting the material in big picture but i just don't feel comfortable about the material yet, and i feel like there is alot of gaps in the information.
I think I will read the PR chapters again to reinforce.

NOVA did a really good job with those chapters for me. Can you get access to it?

I'm in the same boat. I have the latest edition and am having a great deal of difficulty with electrostatics and electromagnetism as well. I've spent DAYS trying to make sense of this damn chapter and I'm at my wits' end! (Not even going to try to move on to elecricity and circuits until I've gotten this down, so I can't comment on that section.) I did alright with the in-chapter questions, but when I got to the review questions... :wtf: My brain is just not making any connections between those questions and the information in the chapter that supposedly prepares you to answer said questions. I turned to TPR as a plan B, and it filled in some of the gaps, but it still wasn't enough to get me to the point of being able to answer the TBR questions. Plans C and D: Nova and Wikipremed; I'll update if I find any enlightment.

Disclaimer: I am downright stoooopid when it comes to physics (as evidenced by the fact that I need 4 different sources to understand one simple topic), so BerkReviewTeach's suggestion to get the latest version might work for others who are less physics-challenged than I am.

practice makes perfect ... don't worry too much, BR was trying to present the material in a different way however i think they didn't connect the concepts together well.. especially Magnetic and Electric Feilds

I thought that BR did an excellent job with circuits, but were lacking a bit on magnetism. Not bad, but could of added a little more detail to help understand the tougher problems.
