Before I got the BR physics book, I've been studying physics from the NOVA book. Once I got the BR book and started working on Ch1 on kinematic, I WAS DEPRESSED. The passages are insane! (compared to NOVA, the BR book has barely any discreet, calculation problems)

I don't know what's going on. I thought I was pretty ok on physics when working through NOVA but guess not... i'm taking my MCAT in April.

Should I finish the NOVA that I've been working on first and then tackle the BR physics? or other way around??

Thanks guys🙂

Mix and match the two. Pick whichever book you like more for content review. Then, go over the respective problems covering the chapter topics from both books. Also, the MCAT doesn't have too many discrete and pure calculation problems, so BR is probably a better overall prep experience. If you complete both at the same time, you'd have a nice balance between passages and discretes.

Edit: Remember to round like crazy whenever you come across a calculation problem.

Nova is absolute garbage. No passage problems, useless examples and practice problems. Just by looking at real practice AAMC exams will you realize that Nova is all hype. AAMC physics is few calculations, more tricky concept questions.

As SN2ed suggested you should do the practice problems from both books. HOWEVER, you should use BR for content review because they teach you strategies (Test Tips) on how to approach the passage based questions. Once you pick up their strategy, you will have a much easier time with the passages. And as somebody else mentioned, you should concentrate on understanding the concepts (by doing passages), rather than doing discretes/calculations.
