Anyone willing to summarize the Carnot Cycle and how a refrigerator and heat engine works? I was doing fine with the chapter until I came to that part.

Thanks

Basically I remember both like this: when you do something to a system, that system must do something back. So if you do work on the system, the system has to give back to the surrounding. In a heat pump you do work on the system, so the system has to release heat to the surroundings (in the form of the heat released in the back of your fridge). In an engine you have heat entering the system (in the form of say combustion of gasoline in your car), so it must do work on the surroundings (which moves your car). I wouldn't get caught up in the actual diagrams.

If i remember correctly, refrigerator is ccw, while engine is cw, with the shape a little rhomboid. Thats all I remember! thanks for the quick refresher rayhaan!
