Braces in dental school?
Started by purplepanda
From what I've heard from students at some schools, Orthodontia is one of the only things that isn't heavily reduced for students, but you'd probably still get a significant discount compared to your local Ortho place.

Invisalign is offered at a deep discount at UOP - I don't know about traditional braces though.
Comprehensive ortho, invisalign, endo (including molars), operative, crowns (except lab fees), srp's, crown lengthening, you name it, it's FREE! at my school.
I took advantage of this and ended up saving about $10-15k easy in the past 3 years.

What school is that? I'm jealous! =D
I had full ortho while in dental school (done by one of our adjunct faculty)--best experience ever!

we only get 10% off of braces at pitt. half down and payment plan for the rest. 😱
Depends on the institution and the complexity of the case. I did my wife's orthodontics when I was in school, and I had a great faculty preceptor who really involved me in all phases of the case (which took just under two years from start to finish). It gave me a much greater appreciation for ortho than I had previously. Fees for resident-level cases are the same as for anyone else, but my wife's full ortho treatment cost us only $600.Do dental students take any ortho cases, or are they mostly resident/faculty? Also, if a student is working on an invisalign case, is it hard to screw up?

Wow that must have been quite an experience being only a dental student. I wish my school would give us a bit more leeway when it comes to more advanced treatment plans.
