Im taking the January 25 test. Im stuck with PS:8 BS:9 Do you think i can improve? do i have time? I hate Physics!!!I think i will do the 1001 EK, any opinions.....
Frequency:
w=2(pi)f = (k/m)^1/2 = (g/l)^1/2
think WacK eM and WiggLe
v=(wavelength)x(frequency)
E=hf
E=hc/(wavelength)
n = c/v
frquency does not change from one medium to the next
ROYGBIV (color spectrum, increasing energy, decreasing wavelength)
Vf = (2gh)^1/2
P=IV
V=IR
Q=CV
P=Energy/time
KE=1/2mv^2
PE=mgh
A1V1=A2V2
graphs (like what produces hyperbola and such)
Chemistry
titrations
pH = -log[H+]
pH + pOH = 14 (at 25C)
G=H-TS
spontaneous vrs nonspontaneous (G and E)
E>0
G<0
Le Chatelier Principle (w/ pressure too)
internal energy = heat - work
boiling point elevation
freezing point depression
vapor pressure
osmotic pressure

THAT ABOUT IT.... if u learn all these there should be no reason why do won't score 10+.
for a more extensive list check out the MCAT study guide on SDN... very helpful! I think bio will take a longer time to learn cuz there is a HUGE amount of info on it, but u can try n just learn the basics. Physics is only a few formulas and the rest critical thinking.
If your verbal is not 10 or higher I would highly recommend you not to take the mcat on August at take it in April. At that time you can go over everything you need and more with more time. I haven't done the mcat-prep.com book so I can't say much about it. Having practice problems will be very important right now... I would actually recommend the Kaplan Online if you don't mind spending almost a grand on ur material. If you are scoring a 10 or higher on verbal, than I think after a few tests you should be scoring 30+. The hardest part of the test for most people is the verbal, get over that hill and the rest can be easily learned.
See what your weakest areas are and review everything you can on it. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=134 is a great place to start and don't hesitate to PM me any science question.. I would love the practice and we are all in the same boat here.
for physics, check out the nova physics book. its amazing and i highly recommend it. i did terribly in my physics classes at university, understood nothing, and had to start from 0 knowledge. nova physics helped me improve my physics score by 5 points.
i also bought the other nova books, but they werent as useful.
Nova is a great book. Today i take another test and PS 9 and bio 10...I noticed that i had problems with acid bases, oxidation, circuits and some others. I will do the EK 1001...My goal is 12 or 13. Thanx for everything...
also, if youre struggling with a specific concept (you mentioned acids and bases) you can usually find great tutorials online. i tend to google whatever it is i need help with, and some university always has great online notes or an interactive website or practice problems with solutions.
