I took the DAT today and I was very happy with my scores so I thought I’d share my study resources.
Scores: PAT 21
QR: 22
RC: 23
Biology: 24
Gen Chemistry: 30
Organic Chemistry: 27
(image of scores is attached)
Resources: DAT Destroyer, Math Destroyer, DAT bootcamp (with the DAT genius tests), Cliffs, Feralis
PAT
For this section I mainly utilized DAT bootcamp. Their PAT explanations are amazing, especially with the TFE and keyholes. I did at least 15 minutes of PAT every day for 3 straight months and I was averaging 20, 19 on the tests. The keyholes, cube counting, and hole punching were all easier on the DAT. Make sure to understand the solutions to the keyholes! Pattern folding was a little harder but not too bad and the angles were slightly easier (angles was my weakest section on bootcamp). PAT really all comes down to practice.

QR
Bootcamp was slightly easier than the real math section but I liked their quantitative comparison problems. It’s a great resource to make sure you have these relatively new problems down. I really liked the style of the Math destroyer; yes, its harder than the real DAT but it will prepare you for the more difficult problems on the DAT as well as with timing (of course time yourself for each test). I did all 18 tests twice and made sure to understand the solutions. On the real DAT I think the quantitative comparison problems is what brought my score down. I really recommend the Math destroyer to better prepare you for all the different types of problems they could throw at you.

CR
I did all the DAT bootcamp tests which were way more difficult than the real DAT (most of the questions on the DAT were in the order of the passage). For me, timing was an issue when studying but I was surprised to have 5 minutes left to check over a few problems I was unsure about. The style of the DAT bootcamp tests were very representative of the test which I appreciated and my piece pf advice is to not fret over your scores (I was averaging 20) – find a strategy that works for you and just work on timing and finding a way to tackle the questions.

Biology
I went over the Destroyer Biology section 5 times, making sure to read each multiple choice option and the explanations in the back carefully. You must really understand every problem and the in-depth solutions. I also went over the DAT bootcamp bio tests twice but I found that as more of a testing tool. Destroyer is amazing if one wants to stimulate a test or just use it as a learning tool. I read Cliffs and Feralis notes once each; they will expose you to many new facts but I do recommend reading it at least once.

Gen Chem
I went over the Destroyer Gen Chem 4 times and made sure to know the math as well as the theory very well. It’s more difficult than the real test, yes, but that, in my opinion, is a plus– you’ll be prepared for anything the DAT throws at you. DAT bootcamp was also great to test oneself to make sure you really have the concepts down – I did each of the chem tests twice. Use DAT bootcamp if you also want to ensure you’re doing well on time. Make sure to know both math and theory (and not one or the other); the Destroyer and bootcamp do a great job of balancing all the various topics that may be seen on the DAT.

Organic Chemistry
The destroyer has all the essential reactions you must know when going to take the DAT, and then some more obscure ones that are equally as important. I especially liked the roadmaps which really solidified my understanding of the various reactions. Again, I used DAT bootcamp as more of a testing resource and did each test twice. The destroyer had many useful tips and tricks for the orgo reactions as well as the theoretical concepts that are vital for the DAT.

I want to thank Ari and the team at DAT bootcamp for their great tests and explanations, especially for the PAT.

I also want to express my gratitude to Dr. Romano and Nancy Steen: I couldn't have done it without the Destroyer books.

I'm having a hard time with QR in general, what should I be looking to average on BC to get me a good score on the actual?

My advice would be not to focus on your scores: I was getting like 6 wrong on the destroyer tests but like 1 or 2 wrong on Bootcamp. What's more important is understanding what you got wrong and making sure you can work well under the time pressure.
