Any updates on the current state of breast fellowship competitiveness? Is a year off for research during/after a general surgery residency becoming commonplace or not? How do the number of applicants compare to the number of SSO-approved fellowship spots? Any input is appreciated!

we had a chief two years ago match into a breast fellowship. my impression was that it was not terribly competitive. thats just a subjective thing but that was my take-home from their experience in the match

In the last few years there have been 60-something spots for 80-90ish applicants.
