I just had my first interview today (ye-haw 😀 ) but I walked away a bit puzzled and not sure what to make of it. It started with the interviewer thumbing through my file and saying, ?I think you were right about gpa being the reason you didn?t get admitted when you applied previously. Your letters, MCAT, and experiences are all very good but I can see that your gpa has improved tremendously since you applied, how did you accomplish that?. Me: (paraphrasing) I scheduled my time better? Her: Good, well that really addresses the only negative thing I found in your app, your gpa is still a bit low, but you?ve shown you?re more than capable.

We then proceeded to talk about Serena Williams getting jobbed in tennis and Paul Hamm and the Olympic judging controversy. The whole thing was done in about 25 minutes (out of an hour scheduled). She didn?t ask me any questions like ?why this school? or ?what would your friends say about you? or anything. What would ya?ll make of it, is it a good sign or is it bad that she?s heading to the admissions meeting without knowing much more than what is on my app?

don't worry about it. sounds like things went well.

Most of my interviews were that way. One or two things about my file then talking about music, travel, books, ect. I got in everywhere, so you'll probably be fine.

Don't read too much into it...I had a 15 minute interview at the school I currently attend - we talked about 2 things - topic #1 - tell me about yourself (this went on about 5 minutes uninterrupted), and topic #2 was my hummus recipe vs. his. Seriously, don't worry!

Don't stress about trying to interpret every nuance of the interviewer's behavior - there's nothing you can do now anyway.

One of the women in my med school class had an interviewer at our school say to her, "I'm sure you will be a good applicant in another couple of years." She got in anyway.
