pharmacist for 5 years
I have been a pharmacist for over 5 years and agree that we dont make much money. I can't get a massage as freely as I would like and I only go on one vacation a year. I live in a decent home but it's nothing like the one i have dreamed about my whole life. I will be getting married in the summer and I know that along with my husbands income we can make our dreams come true. BTW I really enjoyed what shawnrx and vancodoser were saying, as much as it hit a nerve with a few of you, i think most of us got angry because we are jealous of the girls who are working in the pharmacy but dont have to. I know quite a few pharmacist who married docs and now they work just because they love it. and i think they love it because they know they don't really have to work. I hope people dont get angry and call me a troll, because i am not one, I am someone who has observed two people get banned from this forum because they got under are skins. bring those two back 👍 btw my fiance is a dentist LOL just kidding, but that was really funny how shawnrx mentioned it every post. I have indian friends like that, and they make sure they mention it within five minutes of meeting someone new. its annoying but it's their culture i guess. when i started introducing people to my fiance , they would always ask what he did right away. i was proud to say he was a dentist. my two cents

according to Mr Obama:

"only 6 percent of Americans make more than $97,000 a year. So 6 percent is not the middle class. It is the upper class."

according to http://www.careerprospects.org/Trends/salary-sixfigure.html :

"In 2004, only about 5 percent of U.S. workers earned more than six figures, according to the Census Bureau...In 2005 the average salary for the American worker was stuck around $40,000 a year."

I think, 100k/year is a lot of money.

It is.

Dont let these trolls fool you.

I dont care if its a cultural thing or not- marrying someone just for money or because of their occupation is lame and Id be embarassed to post that on a public forum.

Streight up gold-digger. No shame.

That is true, I am not arguing that we make more than Americans. However, these figures are infact including people who are homeless and all the people who are uneducated and have no jobs. Most people who are pharmacy students are under the impression that once they graduate they will be riding around in a beemer or benz. It's just not the case. I know many pharmacist who are lving paycheck to paycheck. They have mortgage payments, car payments, and school loans in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I couldn't even get a loan for 350,000 with my income. I think a lot of people dont reaize that pharmacist take home about 1000 dollars each week. A clerk at jewel working full time take home 450 dollars. two clerks at jewel who are married make the same as a pharmacist. we have no room to make more.

hmm this person mentions they have been a pharmacist for five years in most posts.

Maybe those people need to start buying houses and cars they can afford!

who should one be scared to post on a public forum? 100,000 is a lot of money in the 90's. and its a lot of money if you grew up very poor. I just feel like student are confused about the lifestyle they will have once they graduate. I think you still are going to be under a lot of stress even though you think you are making "a lot" of money .

I mentioned it once in my original post Thank you.

my point exactly, we as pharmacist can't afford the nicest homes. i am denver and the cost of a nice home is much more than I can afford.

Yeah, at any income level, one has to learn how to budget. I knew strippers that were bringing in $1000 per night and at the end of every month, they would still be short for rent and bills...

100k might not be enough to live like a millionaire, but certainly to live comfortably. Just gotta learn how to budget.

However, these figures are infact including people who are homeless and all the people who are uneducated and have no jobs.

They also include the upper bracket multi-millionaires and billionaires, so I think it evens out.

Your right. In real life it doesnt matter.

However, you are the same person as ShawnRx. Your poor grammar and terrible sentence structure is nearly identical.

why bring back shawnrx... you're already back..

People have different versions of a nice house. Some people would be more than happy with 800 sf while others aren't. You don't always get the nicest things out there. You get the nicest thing you can get on your budget.

I know someone that had $1 million in the bank, half million dollar house, very nice cars, but she was "broke". People have different standards of broke and poor.

Dang, I didn't know stippers made that much a night!

Here is my input.....go do something else then. For ****s sake, if I was this disenchanted I wouldn't do this. I do not give a **** about mortgage loans you can get or who you think lives paycheck to paycheck. Pharmacy school does not take that long, change course now...for your sake apparently.

WHo wouldnt want to live in a mansion? But i do realize pharmacists (as well as physicians and dentists) dont make as much money as most ppl seem to think. I wonder how long will it take for me to live comfortably after I graduate.

80% of my class lives comfortably...we graduated 8 months ago. If you think "comfortable" is a mansion, you are a *****.

insensitive remark

Don't let a troll make you guys lash out at each other. We are all a little tense about what the troll said, however if we react with such anger it means we believe what she said 😕

I don't care how mad you are at someone, your above comment is completely uncalled for.

Sorry mom. Thanks for being there to let me know when I am out of line.
