Bringing FA to test center?

Did anyone bring FA to the test with them? I can't decide if it would be a positive thing, to reassure me if I finish a block and freak out over not knowing something that I can look over pretty quickly, or if it will just stress me out more.

I did. I looked up all the ones I guess on and could remember - and guessed right.

Same here, but I only looked up one thing. I wouldn't waste your time with it. You'll be so out of your mind there is no use in wasting what little break tim you have.

I brought it but didn't really end up looking at it. Which was a mistake because I had flagged three pages (GI hormones, developmental milestones, and adverse drug reactions) that I knew I needed to look at again and I ended up missing 3 easy questions in those subjects. So, if there is anything come test day that you know you are weak in and can quickly review between blocks, bring it, but don't bring FA to look up answers to questions you just did as you'll just stress yourself out. Looking up answers won't even necessarily help you on future questions--I freaked out about a developmental milestone q and checked my answer over the break but barely glanced at the rest of the developmental milestones, resulting in my missing a different developmental milestone question in the next block.

I intend to bring mine. If I freak out and can't remember something I'd like to look it up before going to the next block. Otherwise I'm sure it will make matters worse. Good luck!

Except once you miss it, its unlikely to show up in the next block.

I really don't think i'm going to do it, whenever I look over information immediately before an exam i do poorly. Whether thats because I only do last minute studying when i'm ill prepared or because it actually has an inherent negative effect, I haven't established. Regardless i'm not going to chance it.

Geez, put away the claws. If reading my question is a waste of time, don't do it! I was seeking advice from people who have taken the test, because I want to know if the people who did choose to do it felt that it benefited them or stressed them out further. So, it was an "Advise me on step 1" question just like every other question in this forum. Obviously, you have no advice to offer, which is cool, but maybe you should take a study break or a xanax 🙂

I think the vampires have been out this week. I guess it's the test anxiety that no one wants to admit they have. Your question was totally legitimate so don't let the beasts get to you.

I did look at it, during breaks, also it was nice to get some positive feedback, when you are between 2 answers and you dont know wich one is te correcdt answer, and during break you learn you choose the correct answer👍

Also for those questions that you just forgot, but they are easy, I notice that there were some concepts and topics that they ask in different way.

I even had the SAME question more than once🙄, and I got it right😀

I also had repeat questions across blocks that were rephrased slightly.

Because they covered things that weren't that remarkable, I assumed they were experimental (ie. testing different versions of a question). But who knows.

The positive feedback is definitely the biggest draw for me. I'm kinda worried about the reverse though... did it stress you out when/if you found out you got a question wrong?

I think you're better off bringing a few pages of notes that focus on things which a quick refresher could help with. I'm thinking things like drugs you have difficulty with a flowchart for bacteria and viruses, things like that.
