Heard anything through the grapevine about why Brown was put on probation? They sent out a flashy brochure and a letter stating that they were given probationary accreditation, but no details.

This is what the ACGME has to say about it:

Original Accreditation Date:
Accreditation Status: Probationary Accreditation
Accreditation Effective Date: December 3, 2004
Accredited Program Length: 3 years

Program Format: Standard

Last Site Review Date: January 13, 2004
Cycle Length: 1 years
Next Site Review Date (approximate): February 14, 2006

If you applied to the program, be sure to contact them and get an explanation as to what the reason for the probation is. It might be something minor (typo in the written 'moonlighting policy', a page missing in the 'lines of supervision' policy), or it might be something major (lack of resident experience in one sub-area of the specialty, consistent failure of residents on the boards).
