Brown vs. Case vs. Einstein
I’m not 100% sure what specialty I want to go into, but I’m leaning towards ortho, so I don’t know if that should influence my opinion at all.
Brown:
Pros: The students by far seemed the happiest and I felt at home the entire interview day. The administration seems to really care about the students and try to listen to their advice/feedback.
Cons: Can’t really think of any except that research seems to be a lesser focus here than at other schools, which isn’t a huge factor for me since I don’t particularly love research but I will probably want to do some research down the road for residency matching.
Case:
Pros: I liked the way the curriculum and schedule are formatted, it seems like it would be good for my learning style. Also, plenty of opportunities for research are available, and it has a great reputation.
Cons: Not in love with Cleveland. Also, the students did not seem super happy (and I have heard from others who interviewed there that they got similar vibes) although I only met maybe 20 students so it might not be indicative of the entire student body. Also it is the most expensive of the 3 (but only slightly more expensive than Brown)
Einstein:
Pros: Cheapest of the 3 options (~9k cheaper than brown and ~11k cheaper than case). New York would also be a cool city to live for 4 years (although I’m not sure if I would want to stick around long term).
Cons: their interview day was a little unorganized which kind of turned me off from their school. Could be biased from that experience, but it seemed to be the least impressive of the three schools.
I’m leaning towards Brown because I can’t get over how happy all of the students seemed to be and how comfortable and excited I was to be there the entire time I was there, but Case Western was definitely a very close second. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated!
