I just found out online that I have been waitlisted at Brown. Is anyone else waitlisted as well? Does anyone know chances of getting in off the waitlist for this cycle? how many they typically waitlist?

I'm really upset because the interviews went exceptionally well, and I loved the school.

Yea I'm on the waitlist. Did they give you the whole thing about being "highly competative" as well? Heh, fact that I'm an international student (an actual one, meaning outside of NA) and that I couldn't show them any money, may not have helped my case.

Well best of luck to you.

Sorry to hear about the waitlist. All I can tell you is that Brown is enrolling a flexible number of standard admit students--anywhere from 15-20...and are then adjusting the other admission route decisions based on this. This flexibility might work for you if you write a LOI, ect. As far as waitlist...there is a thread created about the waitlist last year...although since Brown is so new to the standard admit game who knows. Good luck!

yep waitlisted here as well, pretty disappointed. i felt that my interviews went really well too.

Me too, but I'm not too sad. I think this application process has numbed me.

would you guys mind posting when you interviewed? i'm still waiting to hear...

and good luck. it's not over yet! :luck:

First or second week of December, so it took them quite a while to make a decision.

I just found out about the waitlist too (no official letter yet, just online). I interviewed mid November. Not really upset; I'm lucky enough to be accepted at a school I liked much better than Brown.

does this mean that brown had finished interviewing and had already sent out what ever decision letters?

I was recently there, and they still had 5 more interview groups coming (already invited/planned earlier), so there are still more decisions being made. They also gave a number of about 23-25 this time for total AMCAS applicants. Good luck to everyone!🙂 :luck: :luck: :luck:

Another waitlistee. My guess is that most decisions from this point out will be waitlists. When I was there mid-Jan they said they'd already accepted almost 100 people for maybe 20ish spots . . . so my guess is they are nervous they have overaccepted already.

Hmm, I like that reasoning. So are they rejecting anyone post interview? or just waitlisting everyone.

Also, I heard that they sometimes put someone in a later decision group, for people that they just don't know what to do with. Did the dean tell you about that too?

He did tell us that, but those circumstances seemed to be unusual. The example he gave was a student last year who was a biochemist with 40+ NIH funded publications who taught Biochem at HMS, they didn't feel like it would be right for him to take everything, but if not, then what do they cut and what does he have to take, etc. I don't think I really fall into that type catagory.

Hi- I just had to let you know that I am in love with your dancing-milk-dude....and yeah, he actually gave the same example last week about the NIH publications guy...have you written a letter of intent? I'm guessing brown is the kind of place that would respond well to someone who really wants to be there-- :luck: :luck: :luck: goodluck🙂

i remember that example from december as well. i'm assuming the worst with being waitlisted here considering the small amount of spots available to the standard route.
