Hello,

After reading some threads, I had a question about both biochem and molecular bio. It seems that HY Molecular Biology and RR Biochem are the top sources used.

Just wanted to check if anyone who took the test last year used the new green 4th edition of BRS Biochem and Molecular Biology that combines the 2 subjects?

Thanks

As I remember, Kaplan Biochem had the most support. I certainly liked it the best and it covered all of the molecular bio/genetics you needed as well. Obviously, its a little hard to get your hand on if you don't purchase the entire set.

The BRS biochem book is pretty thick. I didn't use it, but most of my friends thought it was too dense for their purposes. I have the newer HY Cell and Molecular bio book, and that guy was too dense as well (I've heard that the older one is easier to use).

My personal opinion: Lippincott Biochem (if you have the time) > Kaplan Biochem (if you take the time to annotate it) > RR Biochem > First Aid cold turkey >>>>> HY Biochem (don't waste your money)

For my exam, molecular bio was overrated. Everything could be found in FA.
