I had a question for those of you who have taken the exam - I was thinking that most likely the majority of med students taking Step 1 are probably studying from the same books - BRS, FA, HY, Step-Up, and Q-Bank, etc. I'm not out to achieve an astronomical score, but I was just wondering what else I should be looking at to maybe get a heads-up on some of the material that people are having difficulty with or haven't seen before. I feel like I'm re-reading the chapters in BRS and FA repeatedly and I don't know if I'm getting anything out of it now. Any thoughts or input is appreciated.

I used HY Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Biochem; BRS behavioral science in addition to the books you mentioned. I think I got the most points from the Behavioral Science and Biochem books.

If you want more questions do Robbins Pathology questions.

There are going to be questions on the step that cannot be directly answered unless you've seen the information covered in a textbook, not a review source. In other words, if you've read through your textbooks during your courses and have a fairly good memory, you'll probably recognize the answer to some of the tough questions, questions that you would otherwise just have to guess at (or think through) if you'd only studied review books.

Of course, this type of question is not rampant on the exam, but probably makes up at least a good 10-15% of the 350.
