I bought a brand new BRS Physiology 3rd ed. by Linda Costanzo from Amazon before school started this year. We just started phys. this semester and when I opened the book, a page fell out. I am now on page 15, and seven of the pages have fallen out. When I turn a page, it starts to separate. I have the BRS Biochem 3rd ed. that is bound in exactly the same way, but the glue is strong, and you couldn't pull a page out if you tried. I just emailed Lippincott's customer service requesting a replacement, but I was wondering if any of you had had a similar result, perhaps from a bad lot, or if I somehow just got a bad book. This is the blue book, with yellow grid.
Thanks

this book is fawesome! after much use during the fall semester, my brs phys is still going strong. good luck getting a new book.

I had exactly the same problem with BRS Costanzo. I returned it to B&N and got a new copy, which I haven't opened yet.

That's a good idea. If they won't send me a new one, I'll do that. Any idea on the cost?

there must've been something seriously wrong with the way they bound that book. my copy, my husband's copy, and many of my classmates' copies started falling apart after very litte use. i'm probably going to get mine spiral bound before I start studying for Step 1.

mine started falling out too! What's up with that? It's so annoying because I really like the book but it's impossible to use because all the pages are falling out. I hate to pay the money for copying, but I might have to.

😡

$7.00 at my Kinko's. I actually had BRS Path and First Aid spiral bound last spring when I was studying for Step 1. Much easier to read and take notes in it that way. I highly suggest doing it for any book you're going to use all day, every day!!

Spang

PS: The ironic twist to this is that the Washington Manual is spiral bound, which makes it harder to put in your white coat pocket 3rd year, and I hated it!

my BRS did the exact same thing last year. I just took it back to a local medical bookstore where they replaced mine without asking for a receipt.

I'm sure they just send the faulty books back to the publisher and get reimbursed.

I actually heard this from 2 different classmates just a few days ago. I thought it was kind of strange since I hadn't had a problem with it, but I also realized I have the 2nd edition and not the 3rd so there probably was a problem with that printing.

I just heard back from Lippincott who said that they don't replace books per se, but that if I wished, they would send me a new book with an invoice and that I could return my book, at which time they would void the invoice. The only catch is I would have to pay for return shipping, using their box. For that price, I think I'll just go to Kinko's and have it spiraled as the above person had posted. But first, I'll stop by my local bookstore and see if their pages pull out. If not, I'll see if I can exchange it.

Yup, mine lasted until April of first year, then the pages started falling out like deciduized endometrium--- oh boy I've been studying repro for too long 😀

Same thing happened to mine, as well as my brothers (at another medical school). 3 nights ago, I just sat down and tore all the pages out 1 by 1, and then hole punched them and put them in a binder. Took me 30 minutes or less. Would have taken longer going to Kinkos to drop it off and pick it up.

yesssssssss. my pages fell out too!

my pages fell out, most of my classmates's pages fell out, my friends at other schools had pages fall out...hopefully this will be the only BRS with that problem b/c I really like the series.

Yep, my BRS Phys fell to pieces as fast as I flipped the pages; I just stapled the chapters together. Good news is I got the BRS Path, Pharm, and Micro this year, and they don't fall apart.

My pages also fell out, and I took it to Kinkos for the spiral binding. The spiral is actually far superior, since you can set it down on workout equiptment without the pages flipping all over the place. I'm thinking of having the binding on my path book done the same way, even though it has no such problem.

Will Kinko's spiral bind any paperback book, or do you have to take the pages out of the book first?
