Hello dear friends,

I'm wondering for those of you took COMLEX or USMLE step 1 give us your experience and feed back..

Which one is better flash card for step 1...BRS or Brenner Pharm flash cards? I can see on First Aid that..Brenner is listed on catagory A, whereas BRS is in B. However, when I read on forum, most people say BRS is better...some say..it doesn't have all drug info...So, those of you took the actual exam, which one you prefer?

Similarly, BRS micro flash card is listed in catagory B in First Aid..but still heared it is A+..what do you say on this one if you used it for your exam?

Do you think it is required or better than Micro rediculous simple?

Thank you very much

I can't comment on pharm (though I'd be interested to hear what others have to say too!), but here's my thoughts on micro.

For micro the BRS flash cards are very much "flash" cards - ie, they have a description or something on front and the organism or disease on the back. If you want a quick, quiz yourself type of review they would probably be good, but I can't imagine they'd have all the info needed for micro on them (but I don't own them, only flipped through a few of a friend's, so take that with a grain of salt).

I bought Microcards, which I loved, but they are definitely much more in depth. Basically all the important stuff about a bacteria/virus/etc on a card. The front has an example of a clinical case with a flowchart of lab test classifications (for example, gram+/cocci/cat+/coag-/novobiocin sens), and the back has the clinical presentation, pathobiology, how the diagnosis is made, treatment, and other important facts. So it's much more in depth, but I liked them a lot.

Also, I used these for micro (just finished the class) but I am not prepping for Step I, so take that into consideration too.
