BS/DO programs

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did a search but couldn't find much on these programs. Can anyone help find a list a schools offering BS/DO programs?

google search led me to this Website. I don't know how up to date it is but it is a good starting point.

Perhaps the mods will also add this to the hSDN forum, so people there will have a list of these programs as well.

I think there's one between Montclair State University & NYCOM. I remember a friend of mine telling me about it. Think his cousin either goes there or is in the program

There are three inherent problems with BS/DO programs which don't excite me particularly -

- Admission to the DO part is usually conditional and that conditional part is usually subjective. For example, at many schools you need to pass an interview with the medical school adcoms AFTER you are 2-3 years into the BS program. If the conditional part was only quantitative, as in you need min 3.5 GPA or you need min 30 MCAT, then that would be acceptable. But because of such subjective factors, the process continues to remain a crap shoot/risky/uncertain.

- It seems silly to be tied into a DO program without giving MD a shot, which is what you do with a BS/DO program. This is especially true for me. Saturday I found that I was accepted by a good school. For the first time I have pre-med advisors and don't have to beg for advice from other undergraduates on SDN, so I need to give MD a shot rather than being tied to a DO program.

- I have heard that if you don't get into the DO program, other schools don't consider you.

Not true. I know several people to whom this happened to and they got into other medical schools just fine; some of them have already graduated from medical school.
