Hey Everyone,

I am currently a Junior, and this year I joined the BS/MS program in Biochemistry at my university. I don't plan on staying for the extra year though and my PI and I have agreed to do the BS/MS program as it is a way for me to get tuition and a stipend. My PI has no expectations of me completing the MS, and I will eventually graduate with a BS, but my question is this. Should I tell AMCAS and the med schools I am applying to that I am in the BS/MS program with no plans on finishing or should I just apply as a BS student? I am taking strictly graduate courses at this point and my transcript will reflect that, but those courses are available as a undergraduate only and will count toward my BS when I graduate.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

Wait, are you joining and cheating the system to get tuition and a stipend?

If you have no intention of finishing, do not tell schools you are doing it with no intention of completing it. Then they may ask why you joined in the first place.

Just apply with a BS.

This sets of alarm bells for me as well.
