hi guys, does anyone know if there are any opportunities for a BS Pharmacy degree holder (4 year course) stateside. i've heard that only 5 year programs are recognised but what about 4 year programs. anyone know if they (graduates of these programs) can qualify as pharmacists in any of the states.

all i know is BS pharm no longer offered in any of the schools any more. last degree conferred as BS pharm was last year or this year and that's it. please correct me if i am wrong.

Career opportunities? Yes, as long as you have your RPh, you're fine. I work with plenty of BSPharms. Although schools have already made the transition from the BSPharm curriculum to the PharmD, the PharmD is not requisite to licensure. If you are a foreign grad, however, you must also pass the foreign pharmacy graduate equivalency examination (FPGEE) before you take the board. Also you need to go through some sort of process in which they determine the equivalency of your degree to domestic programs. I'm not too familiar with the process, but you can find some info through the "Important Links" sticky at the top of the forum page, look for the "National Association of Boards of Pharmacy" link and go there. You might also have to take the test of spoken english (TSE).
