I've worked in India right after my dental school for 2 yrs (03 to 05), 2 (06-08)yrs of volunteer work in India. Shadowing dentist in USA about a month (summer of 09).
 
Just wanted some advice......
I got my NBDE part1 results a week back n scored 91 , I did apply to CAAPID for BU . My question is ....I got 94 in TOEFL n was wondering wheter BU pays importance to an exam like TOEFL? Like they won't even consider my application bec. of my TOEFL score? Should I redo TOEFL ..... advice would be appreciated......
I have a GPA of3.0 n I worked as a dental assitant for a year (just 20 hours a week) .
 
Melary, Congrats on your high score. Since your TOEFL is 94, you can update your CAAPID profile to let know BU that you are planning to take TOEFL again and when. They do consider that you are going to take TOEFL again. I've talked to BU admission office and that's what they told me regarding my TOEFL score.
 
I got "Application under review mail" today... I dunno if this is gonna help me or not as I heard that they are going to send invites only upto the end of this month.. I had the completion mail end sept, 2010. My stats are part 1 - 84, TOEFL - 96, MDS in oral surgery, 10 yrs of exp in India, 6 months of Dental Assistance, 6 months of Dental Assistance school teaching, 3 yrs of teaching in india..... I wonder if we are going to be waitlisted for next year :scared:
 
i have a question! im from the DR i just got my nbde part 1 score n it was a disappointing 82... im already studying for my part 2 n working as a general odontologist in a clinic n hoping to apply this year for a 2012 program. Have a year and a few months working experience as a dentist, n b4 that worked as a oral n maxillofacial surgical assistant. Have 2 diplomates in aesthetics and endodontics and some volunteer work in dental operatives. Also worked in a research for Alzheimer's patients in 2010. GPA 3.5. Still to take TOEFL

Where would u suggest i apply for an advance standing program? i know 82 is not much of a score but id like to know which schools are my best chances...which ones are not so competitive? Love BU but guess thats out of the question🙁

Guys you have ana mazing profile. NO school just looks at score alone. Believe me dental school admissions and much more than juss numbers on your score cards.
Both of you stand strong chances for admission, apply to BU ASAP, if you haven't done so.. i know its very very late..but you have nothing to lose..who knows..u might get a call this year..
if u can not make it to the deadline - then apply to colorado right away, work on your hand skills for the benc test and take my word for it, you will be IN.

Note : Improve the TOEFL. Get above 100. Its a stupid high school english exam, there is no way you can score less here.

dont worry smbdy with 83 got into umn this year and one with 94 was rejected.

I was told that the person who has score of 83 and got accepted by Umn actually was Umn alumni. That means a GREAT connection and the school consider this as a very important factor. This means the person whose score was 83 has much better luck than the person whose score is 94.

So people who have relatively low score don't give up since you may never know when the luck will knock your door!
 
all u can do is hope right?! but anyway, do you guys know which schools dont have such high standards so i have a better chance? im still gonna apply to BU cus its my fave but i'd like to have some options that are more safe... id hate to waste a year to re-aply! 🙁 thinking of applying this year to start 2012 since im planning on takin the part 2 in May or June...that does help my resume right? even for schools that dont ask for that score?

N how long do you have to wait for ur TOEFL score after u take it, since im planning to take that right after the part 2?

plsss help me out! thought this was gonna be easier after i finished with my NBDE but guess i thought wrong!!!

Hello All - Has anyone got acceptance in this week or last week? How much time BU takes to inform acceptance, rejection or wait list after interview? Any idea? Thanks.

I called them today and they said they are going to take interviews until march 10. so i think one month is left.

hi..that means liitle chances as u need time to arrange for flights and accomodation..might be possible candidates have been called ..what do u say?

i got the review email in September and the invitation email on Jan 21st

Hi, I applied to the school in Jan. 14th, got the interview invitation Jan. 24th
Made the interview Feb. 10th and thanks to God I got accepted Feb. 11th.

Hey guys, I had an interview at Boston University School of Dentistry in Jan.
I still havent heard anything from them.
I really like the school.
But unfortunately I havent heard anything from the school.
Does anyone know anything about admissions and letters of acceptance?
What is Bostons University School of Dentistry's admission process?
Its been just about 4 weeks since I had my interview.

That's fantastic.. How about the others who were interviewed with you?? I am asking this because at this point of the interview schedule.. the chances of getting a seat become lower.. more-so in the last 2 weeks of the interview schedule
 
we 10 interviewed...our of them 4 got in the very next day....
