Hello.

I graduated from undergraduate in December 2008 with a dismal GPA of 2.61. It sucks, I know.

My healthcare experience includes working part time in a pharmacy all throughout undergrad (Fridays and Saturdays during school and full time during breaks) in addition to long term volunteering at an AIDS/HIV home. I was also active as a pianist, violinst, and composer for various school functions-if it matters at all.

I didn't finish pre med courses in college, so I'm moved to Boston immediately after graduating to enroll at the Harvard Extension School as a non-degree student to do so. I graduated undergrad debt free so am not too concerned with student loans at this point. I'm also staying with family in Boston (close ot Harvard).

I started Spring semester 2009. I will be finished with them after Summer 2009 at Harvard Summer School. Then, I plan to take the MCAT in September 2009 and am hoping to score pretty high-I'll be using Kaplan's online course.

After finihsing pre reqs at Harvard Extension School I originally planned to enroll both Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.(non degree) in some of the upper level biology courses there-such has Human AP, immunology, biochemistry, neurobiology, etc. After that I planned to matriculate into a one year SMP (or similar program) for 2010-2011 and matriculate into medical school in 2011.

I recently learned that BU MAMS(GMS) accepts people during Spring! If possible, I would rather begin the BU program Spring 2010...apply to MD programs in June 2010 for Fall 2011 admission...and have three terms of grades available from the BU MAMS program by December 2010 (Spring 2010, Summer 2010, Fall 2010).

-----------------------------------------------------

Can anyone share their experiences with starting the BU MAMS in Spring, especially when applying to the MD program at BU. Anything at all...what did you do during the summer....were you able to complete a lab thesis?

Thanks.

BTW, I emailed someone really helpful named Natasha and she advised me to call her during mornings if I had any questions. I just wanted to hear from some people on here.

I have heard that starting in the spring is based upon how many spots they have left over from the Fall admission and how many new spots open up (people dropping out etc.)
