I was gettin a lil worried about all these students hearing back from BU about the postbac program and me not hearing anything. I called Ms. Hall today to check up and make sure everying is alright with my application. What I found out put me at ease.

There are the 3 different focuses to choose for the program, Clinical Investigation, Mental Health & Behavioral Medicine, and Medical Sciences. The admission committee meets seperately to make decisions for each of the 3 programs. She asked my name, looked up my application and said, "Oh, youre medical sciences, we haven't got to yours yet but we are looking at the medical science applicaions today."

Soooooooo I feel a lot better, not that I got in, but at least i really didnt have any reason to worry... yet. My undergrad GPAwas 3.497 and my BCPM GPA was 3.546 with a 30M MCAT (10 10 10 breakdown). I applied extremely late to med school so all I go tihs cycle was waitlists so far (at least no rejections). So hopefully I will be ok to get into the BU program.

Now, I'm confused.

I thought all of the concentrations are Masters in Medical Sciences. And that the concentrations were Clinical something, Mental Health counseling and Nutrition.

Does she mean that there are subconcentrations within the Medical Sciences, and then a level above that there are the three concentrations that you listed?

I put I wanted to do Mental Health counseling, but I definately want to be in the MAMS program. Will I still take all the med classes?

Can you start the BU program in the spring and do they offer automatic admission if you do well in it.(my question mark isnt working)

check it out:

Concentrations

It is possible for students in the M.A. in Medical Sciences Program to direct their elective course selection and final thesis project to one of the three concentrated areas of study:

Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine
Clinical Investigation
Medical Nutrition Sciences

hope this helps.

NOTHING IS AUTOMATIC WHEN IT COMES TO MED SCHOO ADMISSIONS!!!

If you are competitive applicant to start and do well in the program you might get an interview to matriculate right into med school, but that is a very low probability. Most of the students get more results during the second year of the program. BU will grant an interview to the very competitive GMS students, but that means nothing, and there are NO guarantees or autmatic admissions.

The program starts in the fall and as far as i know you can only start then.

good luck.

totally agree. there's this 2nd yr GMS (applying this year) who did really well during this first year. he has a 34 and a competitive gpa from the mams program (i would say 3.7+) and he STILL has NOT gotten an interview from the BUMS. honestly, i think (even after going through the progrm) this is all a crap shoot (but a crap shoot with a tad bit more luck....if you do well in the program)

That's very surprising. Is this person a first year GMSer or 2nd year?

Quick question. I want to finish my app to BU GMS but don't know how to send in my MCAT. Everything else is done. Help, anyone?

Thanks

Print out an official score report from MCAT THx and mail it to BU.
