On SDN, most people think that BU and NYU are the same relating to costs....After comparing the costs, BU's tuition is $4000 cheaper per year, and living in Boston would probably be a bit cheaper than NYC....

I know this may seem like peanuts, but, dont you think going to BU would save at least $10 000 in the long run? $10 000 doesnt seem like peanuts to me.

Are these calculation accurate, or am I missing something here?

Cheers!

I don't know if your calculation is correct, but 10k IS nothing in the long run.

Geez, opening a practice from scratch will run you $300-500k. If you're going to BU or NYU, then you'll probably pay back $250-300k total in loans.

The difference between $1.00 and $10,000 is huge, but the diff. between $225,000 and $235,000 isn't enough to warrant that being your only (or major!) criterion.

Go where you will be happiest.

I will say , ""A penny saved is a penny earned" means that little by little you will save money by not spending your money. "

It depends.
My general concept of money.
If the 10K is well spent, I wont hesitate to spend that money.
I will have second/third thought about not-necessary stuff.

I agree. They are both expensive schools, so tuition should not be a deciding factor. NYC and Boston are both expensive cities, so cost of living should not be a deciding factor.

Pick a school based on where you would most like to live, and which school fits your needs the most.

I'm sure my old roommate will spend at least 10K on alcohol thru his 4 yrs of med school...

so depending on your spending habit 10K can be easily spent
