I interviewed at Boston and Tufts last Monday and Tuesday, but have been accepted to Tufts. I have not made a clearcut decision, even though I added myself to the facebook group for Tufts and semi-committed myself to going there.

I still have yet to hear back from BU and will hopefully hear back from them by mid week because that is about the time I should be sending in my deposit for Tufts if they BU doe. I really loved both schools as far as the quality of the staff, facilities, and the diversity of the student body. Also, this is where my dentist went to school. However, my dad completed his residency in Phys. med. and Rehab. at Tufts.

Anyways, Can someone tell me what the advantage one would get from going to Tufts over BU and vice versa. I already know that they are only 10 minutes apart and have high tuition costs, so any useful input would be greatly appreciated from students who have been accepted to both schools.

oops, i didnt complete what I had to say in the 2nd paragraph in the original post. Here it is revised.

There are a couple of new threads asking the same question. Check out by using the search button up top. There is some good stuff in there.

I know BU is going through some new changes that is making the school better. I posted it in the other BU/Tufts thread.

Haha that's what you think
😎

What's the deal with people talking about these private school anyways. It is only for affiliate of alumni or people who can't make the cut for their instate school? Who in their right mind would be stupid enough to spend an extra 20-40K/year to attend a private school that no one has heard of?

If you're thinking of a private school, then you're getting ripped off. There's no benefit nor advantage to attending a private school when compared to your public school.

Well considering every school in my state is private, I don't have that instate option (even though UCONN has lower tuition for New Englanders, I got rejected anyway). How do you know he has a state school? Cause I sure don't. sheesh.

You must be an idiot if you have never heard of Tufts, Mr. Gunner. I can't believe you are a dentist.

I guess I'm stupid enough. 😉

Choosing Tufts over UIC, what a fool! 😛 That's how much I was impressed by Tufts.

Blah blah, extra debt.. It's just money, that's not why I'm joining the profession. If I was just looking just to make money, there were plenty of other professions I could have chosen that are more profitable, easier, and carry less debt. Though for most people, it is smarter to choose your state school.

Your State School > Tufts > other schools >>>> BU

Sending in my deposit tomorrow. Final decision: Tufts. So convenient because it is right next to the orange line, next to the YMCA so i can pump iron, and also in Chinatown where I can get plump off kung pao chicken.

did supraman persuad you as the last post in the ex-OFFICIAL Tufts post?

What type of iron will you be pumping, okay, I'm (somewhat) joking

I was born in Boston, so it feels like a homecoming even though I have no recollection of what is what like back in 1986 (the year I was born). Boston is a vibrant city and although most people will say go for the school that has the lower tuition, I want a place where I want to be in a diverse environment where I can have a good time because we all know that no one is going to study around the clock 24/7 unless they're a complete nerd. This isn't to say I will be taking it eay while in school since dental school is no less rigorous than medical school at least for the first two years. Anyways, other factors that I liked about Tufts was the organized manner of the presentation when I interviewed there, the quality of the facilities, the location in Chinatown, and the friendliness of the students, which really speaks volumes about how good a school Tufts is. I like L'ville, as well, but I am willing to trade a cheaper overal cost (about 65-70,000 dollar) for a dental school education for one that will allow me to enjoy the splendor of the city, make awesome friendships, and develop strong connections with other health care professionals, whom I already met when I visited Boston.
