I passed out of gen chem with an ap chem credit and insterad took orgo my freshmen year. But supposedly some schools won't accept ap to fulfill the gen chem requirement, except

"If an applicant has been excused from a required college level course, another course at the same or a higher level must be submitted."

Although I did take a semester of biochem, that is not exactly a higher level of gen chem... without the year of gen chem am I cut? Does anyone have experience with this?

UPDATE: It worked out at every school I interviewed at.

I don't believe the Orgo will satisfy the Inorganic requirement. You should think of it like so:

Requirements: 8 hours Inorganic chemistry, 8 hours Organic.

Your AP credit placed you out of the intro gen chem, which would normally fill the inorganic requirements. Your college orgo satisfies organic but cannot double-fulfill the inorganic requirement.

You need to take a higher level inorganic chem series. Physical Chemistry comes to mind, but a lot of people hate P-Chem. If your school allows it, why not just take the gen chem? Forget the AP credit and take it, if you can. Else, you're going to have to take P-chem or some other advanced type chem class.

Good luck.

Apparently, BU doesn't accept CC credit either! There's always post-bacc buddy.

Congratulations, jtank, on your 1000+ post designation! 😎
