Sorry! No idea how this slipped my notice. 🙂
Anyway, There are many side streets right across from the dental school off of Main street (winspear, custer, lisbon, heath, university, niagara falls blvd, etc.) Most people who live within walking distance from school rent an apartment within a house...there aren't many apartment buildings there. The only one is University Court, which is great because utilities are included, though the landlady is bat**** insane. 😉 (But it's a good place.)
~The best way to find which ones are vacant is to go to: http://buffalo.craigslist.org/hhh/ and type "UB south campus" or "south campus" or "UB" in the search field to help narrow your search. I'd make appointments to view any and all you can, since it's hard to tell from a craigslist ad.
~Also go to the Housing Forums for your orientation web site: http://orientation.sdm.buffalo.edu (You need to register, then click on "Just Ask" --> "Forums" --> "Housing") There are lots available from current dental students, but not all are within walking distance.

no problem! And it absolutely isn't too late...people will still be looking for housing during orientation. Look for me then! Just narrow down all the second years with purple hair and then look for the awesome one.

you can also walk from peppertree village and they will definetly have apartments...although, you would probably be happier living off of main street.
