Hi guys,

I was recently accepted to Buffalo and I'm most likely going to be attending next fall. However, there is such a large disparity between in state and out of state tuition, and, being from California, I would end up eating that cost. Is there anyone from out of state who managed to get in state tuition first year? I heard that if you buy a house you can claim residency for first year, is this true? Any help appreciated, thanks in advance!

I'm not a student there, but I know a couple of D1's and D2's there that bought houses and got in state tuition from day 1. Not to mention that houses in Buffalo are dirt cheap, especially if you're used to those Cali prices.

I am currently a senior at buffalo, I'm not sure if buying a house will get you in state from day 1 or not, but I do know that even if you rent an apartment you can get in state tuition after living here a year. The process is fairly simple and everyone in my class from out of state is now on in state tuition.

I'm a first year and a coulple people bought houses and said they are paying in-state. I also heard of some poeple that bought houses mid first semester and pay in-state their second semester.
