Just want to know you guys think about two schools..!!😀

I am leaning toward Buffalo, since it's SUNY (cheap) and it offers more specialties..

What you guys think? 😕

u r being silly no? Go with Buffalo and do not even mention NYU.

except your life for the next 4 yrs will not be as exciting...

Thanks for sharing opinions guys..!!

i live in upstate ny, and to tell you the truth, after about a month you will get real tired of buffalo, its pretty beat. i would spend the money and go with nyu.

Could not agree more! If money is the only reason for picking Buffalo you are making a mistake, However if you have other reasons for picking Buffalo that's a different story. But you will not have as much fun as you would in NYC.

by the way that's where I am going

I grew up in Buffalo, then lived in NYC for 4 years after college. When I moved back to Buffalo for my 2 years of post-bacc I can tell you that I could not WAIT to get out of Buffalo again. Four full blown Buffalo winters will really, really get to you.

That said I think Buffalo has a better program, but good luck getting your patients to drive through the snow in order to make their appointments.

Go to Buffalo. Take out extra loans in the amount of 200k and you can fly a JET to manhattan every weekend for 4 years. Party like there's no tomorrow.

You can create lots of fun with 200k. Get creative!

I've been living in NYC for last 9 yrs of my life..(5 miles away from Manhattan)

It sounds pretty weird but I never enjoyed going to city..

I went to both schools for interviews and I liked Buffalo far more than NYU.. 🙁

I guess Buffalo is the right school for me.. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I don't think there is going to be enough time to party and have fun, at least for the first two years for sure. So it doesn't really matter where you live. I think what matters the most is the education and training you get. At the end of the day you don't want to end up paying 300K just for being in the city and having a few more drinks

accepted: Michigan, U Conn, Pitts, NYU

I've lived both in NYC and Buffalo for extended periods of time, as well as several other cities and towns. It comes down to this: You can have a good time anywhere, the location really doesn't matter, you should be more concerned with the people than the place. That's my two cents. (That and 200,000 isn't pocket change, choose Buffalo)

I'm currently a second year student at Buffalo. I can tell you flat out that Buffalo kinda sucks, especially if you're coming from an exciting city. However, you really have very little time to socialize in your first two years. And in what little free time you do have, you can have fun if you hang out with the right people. So socrates291 is correct when he/she says it's the people that matter.

The extra $150 - $200,000 to go to NYU is simply not worth it, in my opinion. In my case, I'm from Boston, and I did not even consider Tufts or BU because of their costs. I couldn't justify spending an additional $150K to stay in Boston, despite the fact that Boston was a heck of a lot more exciting in Buffalo. I've never regretted this decision and I'm glad I chose boring-but-affordable Buffalo over high-priced private schools in fun towns.

Good luck in your decision.

go with buffalo, dude

These decisions are all based on personal opinions... You can simply say "cost matters, location don't" or "location matters, cost don't" and nobody can say you're wrong... I interviewed at both places and if i had to choose I would choose NYU simply because location matters to me. I admit buffalo is a great school, but it's very depressing. To me, if i have to study everyday in dental school for the next 4 yrs clinically and academically, then i would want to be in an exciting place so I don't get depressed. I would want to feel "oh wow, 4 yrs is gone already?" rather than "thx God!! it's finally over" for my dental school experience. The bottom line is, decide for yourself, SDN can help you get more familiarized with the school's programs, but the location & cost decision is up to you.

You can have lots of drinks in Buffalo. In fact, at times it seemed like that's all there was to do. That is, when you're not too busy studying or doing labwork, eating Krispy Kremes and chicken wings, shopping at Wegmans, watching movies, etc.... I spent high school, college, and dental school all in Buffalo. Dental school was hands down the best of the three schools, socially and academically. During the other two, I used to wish I could go to sleep and wake up somewhere other than WNY.
