Got a letter stating that after initial evaluation my application has been placed in "Continuing Review" and that this category is used by the committee for those applications it is not prepared to take final action at the present time.

Sounds pretty close to a rejection doesnt it?

I wouldn't give up on them so soon. My application was on review for quite a while before I recieved an interview with them (but never kept up with correspondence after my interview to know if I got accepted or not).

They had me on continuing review for about 3 months, after the initial review for about a month, so I didn't end up interviewing until the end of January.
