We are in the process of getting some business cards set up here at Arizona. I was wondering what schools use them and if they have helped in finding patients.

If you use them, do you usually buy them or does the school provide? Also, what info do you usually put on them? Any information would be helpful.

Thanks for any reponses.

We just received business cards. They are not for finding patients. Their purpose is to give current patients our phone number on a professional looking card and help instill confidence in us. 🙂

We paid for them. As is school policy, we put our school voice mail number on it and never give out our home phones. Some wierd patients go through the school. 😎 I also chose to not put my email down.

Absolutely not for finding patients! They're just for impressing girls at the local bars or undergrad 😀
I put my home number and "For A Good Time, call" on my cards to pick up a particular type of patients 😉

If you're a member of ASDA then you'll get them for free. If not, don't worry about it. I only used 5-10 cards first semester in clinic. My school has appointment cards to hand out to patients. They only put school clinic phone number on the card. You can put anything else that you want. I wouldn't put home phone or pager numbers on them. You can write on them later for those particular patients (prostho/crowns...) that you need to kiss their @ss 😍

yes, at least at my school. Your ASDA rep in your class will take care of it.

I made my own for the hell of it for free....go to vistaprint.com and you can do the same.

yes they are collecting dust in my room too....

100 cards for $2. I made a template of 10 cards on a sheet of regular letter paper and on the back Appointment information, pt name, date of appt, Time of appt and a reminder for 48 hr notice if unable to keep appt. Then I photocopy the template on thick paper ($0.10 per page an $0.05 per copy) when I need more cards.
PS: I only give my phone number to VIP patients, I use the school number for the cards, they are very good at taking messages.

why do u need them?

i think i gave a few to mi granny to give out on bingo night once...

...the rest are collecting dust on a bookshelf somewhere.

So patients have your number to call to cancel or make appts, contact you in cases of emergencies (which one of my pts did at 6am on a Saturday) etc etc. Most people are more likely to keep a card in their wallet versus losing a scrap paper with your contact info IMO.
