so i was invited to interview not that long ago, and i decided to take a train up to boston because it's cheaper. so two weeks ago, i was supposed to take the last train the night before the interview, and apparently it HIT something on the way into the station! so they cancelled the train after telling me it was being "repaired" for an hour. long story short there was no way i could take a train to bu in time for my interview the next day, and so i immediately emailed the minute i got home apologizing and asking to reschedule. the next day someone emailed me back saying that the next open slot they had was in FEBRUARY. i obviously emailed back and asked, especially because the whole train breakdown wasn't something i had control over, was it possible to reschedule earlier? there was no reply, i called the office, they said they only rescheduled online and told me to message (i already had at this point), and i've been waiting until just now when i get an email telling me the bu is considering my application as WITHDRAWN because i haven't contacted them in 14 days since i cancelled my interview!! which is absolutely ridiculou because i've called and messaged them repeatedly! i just called and as usual no one picked up... i guess my question is, i've already interviewed at a few schools (no acceptances unfortunately), so should i try to get this thing rescheduled when they've been so uncooperative in the past? is it even worth it, or is my application officially withdrawn because of their mistake(s)? sorry, this was a bit of a rant, but i'm really upset that i've been trying to get this interview rescheduled for 2 weeks and now they come and tell me they basically think i'm not interested in busm.

this whole process is driving me up a wall... and then some.

So they offered you the earliest possible slot in February, which it sounds like you did not accept, after which you asked if it could be any sooner and they said they only schedule online (i.e., see part one), and they subsequently considered it withdrawn when you didn't respond within two weeks. What happened between when you initially contacted them and the two weeks that elapsed? It sounds like you just let it sit waiting for them to give you an earlier date without them ever saying they would. Schools do these things to make sure that the process keeps moving, so be aware of that.

Considering you mentioned not having any acceptances yet, I would think it best if you do everything in your power to reach out to them and get it rescheduled. Even if that means e-mailing the Dean of Admissions directly if you get no response via the messaging center. Explain your situation clearly and don't blame the admissions office for any of the problems (of course, if you have a sequence of messages to them that were never answered at all, then those would be worth mentioning) - that certainly won't help. Good luck! :luck:

hey stow,
thanks for the advice; what ended up happening was that i asked about rescheduling and they basically never gave me a date and told me they would "get back to me" and never did. sooo frustrating...

Well then definitely follow up! If they did say they'd get back to you but never did, then you have a good reason. As long as you're polite and just express a strong desire to be there, it certainly could help!

bu is pretty aggravating, I was only recently invited and I've decided to withdraw cause they ain't all that great. With your stats I'm sure you'll get into a bunch of the places you interviewed at. I'm also hoping for Penn at this point!!

It sucks your train broke and BU didn't give you an interview before Feburary; however, they only give out acceptances in two waves and most acceptances go out in the second wave so in terms of the date (I'm thinking you were afraid that it was late to interview there) it won't make much of a difference. They only give out about 1/3 of the acceptances to fill the class in the first wave which is notified mid-Jan.

Why am I not surprised by this? Oh yeah, because I applied last cycle and it took them 3 months to straighten out my info in the computer so I could fill out the application. (Which took them 2 weeks to reject 😡)
